August 30, 2021 is the day our President officially and tragically abandoned Americans and our Afghan allies behind enemy lines. Senator Ben Sasse summarized the situation well when he noted, “This national disgrace is the direct result of President Biden’s cowardice and incompetence…The President made the morally indefensible decision to leave Americans behind. Dishonor was the President’s choice. May history never forget this cowardice.”
Moreover, as David Harsanyi rightly pointed out, “The president of the United States, a man privy to the world’s best intelligence, was surprised by the fall of Afghanistan, and yet saw no problem blaming Americans on the ground for not anticipating that collapse. ”
History will no doubt reveal this to be one of the most egregious failings of a Commander-in-Chief in our nation’s proud and storied past.
